Specialty sector

Environmental services & waste staffing

Ascension Staffing recruits the drivers, technicians, sales people, and managers who keep waste, recycling, and environmental services companies running. We recruit nationwide from our base in Fort Lauderdale.

Overview

People for essential, safety-critical work

Waste collection, recycling, and environmental services are essential work. Trucks have to roll on schedule, facilities have to stay safe and compliant, and customers notice right away when a route is missed. That makes every open seat expensive, especially behind the wheel.

This is one of our specialty sectors. We understand the difference between a residential side-load route and a commercial front-load route, why a clean driving record matters, and why an early start time is non-negotiable. We recruit for haulers, recycling and transfer facilities, industrial and environmental service providers, and the companies that support them.

What we screen for

What makes a strong hire in this industry

We screen for what matters in this field, not just for a matching job title:

  • The right license and endorsements for the vehicle and the load, plus a current DOT medical card where the job requires one.
  • Driving and safety history, including willingness to go through your motor vehicle record review, drug testing, and background checks.
  • Route and equipment experience that matches your trucks, such as side-load, front-load, rear-load, or roll-off.
  • Schedule fit. Collection often starts before dawn, and we confirm candidates are ready for that.
  • Physical demands and weather. We make sure candidates understand the real job before they show up.

Ways to hire

Temporary, temp-to-hire, or direct hire

Temporary staffing

Coverage for busy seasons, projects, leaves, and sudden openings, so the work keeps moving while you plan.

Temp-to-hire

Bring someone on for a trial period first, then hire them permanently once you both know it’s a fit.

Direct hire

We recruit and screen for permanent roles, and you hire the candidate directly onto your team.
